Axel "Flex" Arnason
Music Producer/Mixer/Mastering engineer

Got involved in the music business at an early age in his hometown, Akureyri. Studied classical percussion and drumming from the age of thirteen. Played with the local symphony orchestra as well as the school´s rather advanced brass orchestra.

Founded the band 200.000 naglbítar in 1995. Won third place at the icelandic battle of the bands in 1997. Got a record deal with one of iceland´s major recording labels. Made two albums with the band. Got interested in recording during the process. Recorded the drums to the second album.

Moved to Reykjavik in 1999. Got a job at the national radio. Worked there for a year but quit due to the lack of ambition and professionalism of his administrators.

Started working for Studio Sýrland in the year 2000. Did all kinds of engineering work there. Dubbed hundreds of cartoon shows, did a lot of recording and mixing, as well as mastering. Also did a lot of work at the late Thule studios in .

Soon got into producing music. Has worked with most of the top acts in the Icelandic music business, either producing, mixing or mastering. The list is extensive but includes for example: For A Minor Reflection, Quarashi, Bang Gang, Lady and Bird, Mammút, Dikta, Ólafur Arnalds, Jeff Who?, Skálmöld, Momentum, Veðurguðirnir, Bubbi, KK, Páll Óskar, Jet Black Joe, Sálin, Apparat, Lights on the highway, Ljótu Hálfvitarnir and many more. Has also done some work for American artists, including Mar, Judgement Day and Benjamin Del Shrieve. Mixed Craig Walker´s (Singer of Archive) first solo album.

Has written quite a bit of music for theatre, including Harún og sagnahafið which won the prestigious Gríma awards for the best radio play in 2008. Has also written and produced music for radio and TV commercials, for example for IKEA and the Icelandic Post.

Finished a Bachelors degree in philosophy from the University of Iceland in 2007.

Opened his own professional recording studio in 2009, Stúdíó ReFlex by Reykjavik Harbour. Has already become renowned for a relaxed and inspiring atmosphere.

Is in a number of bands himself, working on material set for release in the near future.

Flex is a very versatile producer who feels at home in everything from soft pop to hard metal, as this compilation clearly demonstrates.
